Crime Awareness

Lamar County Crime Stoppers will be providing yard signs for all new Neighborhood Watch groups.

The Paris Police Department and Lamar County Crime Stoppers are committed to keeping the community aware of crime trends in the City if Paris and Lamar County. In order to better do this, we will be keeping this website up to date with the latest crime prevention tips and information to help keep you and your family safe.

One of the best ways to keep your neighborhood safe is to start a Neighborhood Watch. The list below contains helpful information on how to start a watch group in your area. If you need further information, or want to set up a watch meeting for your neighborhood, you can contact Officer Matt Birch at (903)737-4111, or by email at mbirch@paristexas.gov.

The recent acts of graffiti vandalism that have been reported are of great concern to the City of Paris and Paris Police Department. Spray painting public and private property without permission is an act of vandalism that hurts everyone; including businesses, homeowners, schools, and cities, and can put you behind bars!

Research shows graffiti:

  • Contributes to lost revenue associated with reduced retail sales, and declines in property value.
  • Results in more graffiti, vandalism, and crime.
  • Increases public fears about safety in their community.

The City of Paris will work with schools, businesses, and community groups to help keep our city clean and free of graffiti. Research shows that removing graffiti within 48 hours is one of the most effective ways to deter graffiti, because it sends a message that graffiti vandalism will not be tolerated.

Please join with The City of Paris to stop graffiti vandalism. To learn more about the high cost of graffiti, visit www.graffitihurts.org. If you have any information about persons responsible for graffiti in the City of Paris, please call Paris Police Department at (903)784-6688, or remain anonymous! Call Lamar County Crime Stoppers at (903)785-TIPS, or look for the "Give a Tip" button on this website.
